Our Past, Your Future

The goal was to be a tax professional.

Technically speaking, I should be sitting and filing taxes right now. Or, if I was lucky, ordering around my team to file the taxes while I strategize and research the new laws.

I had got my Bachelors in Accounting and was actively working towards my CPA licensing. But then there was that thing called 'bills', so I took a job as an AP Manager. Lucky for me, the company was recently acquired, so there was abundant opportunity for process improvement in both operational and finance areas.

I am a critical thinker problem solver. I zone in on an issue and drill down until I reach the source. Then I fix the source and build out the pieces from the foundation upwards. It takes time. It takes energy and it takes focus. But it breeds results.
Long lasting, earth shattering, trajectory changing, results.

As my team expanded into all accounting related roles, the problem solver brain of mine began to work overtime. Where was that fundamental error? What could I change, that would truly bring efficiency and growth to every area in the company.

Eventually, I found it.

Data.

Inaccurate Data, Time Consuming Data, Conflicting Data or Lack of Data.

Dimensional. Historical. Predictive or Prescriptive.

Sometimes it was the input, sometimes it was the output and other times the software solution. But always, always, it starts with the data.

Back to me...

I got my CPA license, became the controller and eventually the CFO. But I never forgot the most important thing I learned; a solid foundation is the cornerstone of success, and in Finance, that foundation is made up of Data. As CFO I spent considerably more time implementing data and streamlining processes than any other responsibilities. I recognized that role as the defining factor of profitability. As the company made tremendous growth, I eventually had to choose between CFO or Data Systems. And despite my education and my love of finance, I chose the latter.

I was a CPA and I was in the C Suite. I had climbed the ladder and I had reached success.

What is wrong with me??  Why start over??

(for all of you that know me, that question was rhetorical!)

When I was working with other implementation specialists or software companies, I noticed and was bothered by a significant lack. They knew their data, and they knew their solution. But they really did not know finance. There was just always so much misunderstanding and confusion between my team and theirs. Miscommunication and Exasperation.

And this was with the outside contractors. Never mind, when you got the in-house Tech team.

Companies have their Finance Team and they have their Technology Team. And whilst the two departments may work well with each other (or not!), neither one speaks the other language. Data people speak data and finance people speak numbers.

You would think the two are the same; they are NOT.

And the nightmare begins.

The finance team tells the data team numbers, the data team generates and processes data, and the result is illegible. And only sets the company back further from their goals.

The stakeholders get scared.

The decision makers get wary.

The users become avoidant.

And the core issue, remains, UNRESOLVED.

Which is why I am here. (Like I said, NOT Crazy!)

I was born analyzing and organizing. Planning and tallying. Solving and Building.

So I first went into Finance. The Building Blocks of every company.

But then I took it one step deeper. And I found Data.

And now to me they are one and the same. They not only are the same language; they are pieces of each other, interlocking with one another, to become that cornerstone of success.

And I want to use the two together to offer something Incredible. Impactful. Innovative. And Unique.

The Duo Factor. The Power Combo.

Data & Finance.

Change and Improvement of your data solutions without the fear. Without the weariness. And without the Avoidance.

Let me help you discover how easily and friendly the two can interact.

Increase Efficiency. Boost Profits. Gain a competitive edge.
